I enjoy going to work each day in the town where I grew up, and with the people who helped shape the person I am today. It has been a privilege to work alongside my father, Dr. Duane McDonald, for the past ten years, and I look forward to many more with him and Dr. Jeff Johnson.
I’m naturally curious, so I love learning from my patients, and they in turn enjoy learning from me. I pride myself on educating my patients to help them make informed choices regarding their treatment. I feel it is my responsibility to make decisions based on what is in their best interest. It is my privilege to care for them and their families, and I honor the trust they place in me to meet their dental needs.
I completed my undergraduate work at Minnesota State University-Mankato and the University of Minnesota-Duluth. Following graduation, I attended the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry, and earned my Doctorate of Dental Surgery.
I believe it’s imperative to keep up on the constantly changing techniques and materials used in dentistry. As a general and family practice, we offer a wide range of treatment options and products, so continuing education is essential to maintain the high standard of care for which we’re known.
I am currently the second vice president of the Northeastern District Dental Society, and a member of the Minnesota Dental Association and the American Dental Association. I also belong to the Duluth Dental Forum, a 35-member local study club.
After I completed my formal training, my wife Lisa and I moved back to Hermantown. We have three wonderful children. As a family, we love being active and out in the great outdoors. Our favorite activities include hockey and camping. I also enjoy coaching youth sports, and contribute to the community through Give Kids a Smile Day and Mission of Mercy.
